Renting out your property in Casablanca: the steps

Renting out an apartment in Casablanca means choosing the right type of rental, setting a fair rent and securing the lease. Here are the steps.

Updated on

01

Choose the type of rental

  • Unfurnished (long-term) rental: regular income, simpler management.
  • Furnished rental: higher rent, but furnishings to provide and maintain.
  • Short-term rental: potentially higher income, but more management (welcoming guests, cleaning, calendar) and specific regulations to check.
02

Prepare the property

A property that is clean, in good working order and well photographed rents faster and at a better rent.

03

Set the rent

The rent is set by reference to comparable properties in the area, taking into account condition, amenities and exact location. A rent that is too high lengthens the period without a tenant.

04

Choose the tenant

Check the applicant’s identity, income and situation before signing.

05

Sign a proper lease

In Morocco, residential rentals are governed by Law No. 67-12: a written lease, an inventory of condition at move-in and move-out, and a security deposit regulated by law.
